Online gambling: the disease that is coming to us in Latin America

Online gambling appeared at the beginning of the 20th century and is globally spreading, resulting in the proliferation resulting in the proliferation of people suffering from pathological gambling, considered by the APA and the WHO as an addictive disorder.
The spreading of gambling disorder in society is due to two factors: a) the addictive potential of the different games, mainly due to the structural characteristics (and differences) of each kind of games and b) the environmental conditions that favor its expansion, that is, the gambling policies through which governments regulate this activity.
El artículo “¿Es el juego como un virus?” proporciona un marco conceptual que puede ser útil para explicar cómo las nuevas formas de juego en línea pueden convertirse en un problema de salud pública en América Latina, así como para definir las estrategias que deberían ser útiles para prevenir esta pandemia.
