Este estudio piloto llev\u00f3 a cabo un dise\u00f1o cuantitativo con 12 personas que se identificaban como intersexuales en Puerto Rico. El objetivo fue documentar las experiencias de discriminaci\u00f3n y violencia que hab\u00edan sufrido las personas participantes del estudio y poder identificar si exist\u00eda una diferencia entre la calidad de vida y bienestar psicosocial entre personas intersexuales y la endosexual (personas sin caracter\u00edsticas intersexuales). Esto se logr\u00f3 en l\u00ednea, que tuvo la participaci\u00f3n de 12 personas intersexuales y 126 personas endosexuales. Los resultados de este estudio reflejaron que el 83% hab\u00edan sufrido discriminaci\u00f3n y violencia debido a su identidad intersexual. Los hallazgos de este estudio documentaron diferencias significativas en el bienestar psicol\u00f3gico, pero no en la calidad de vida o bienestar social. Esto implican la necesidad de optimizar el cuidado de salud f\u00edsica y mental para as\u00ed minimizar las disparidades y mejorar la calidad de vida y bienestar en personas intersexuales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quality of Life and Psychosocial Well-being in Intersex People from Puerto Rico<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This quantitative design pilot study documented the quality of life of 12 people who identified as intersex in Puerto Rico. The objective was to document the experiences of discrimination and violence that the participants had suffered and to be able to explore a difference in the quality of life and psychosocial well-being between them and the endosexual population (comparative group). This was achieved through an online questionnaire that had the participation of 12 intersex people and 126 endosexual people. The results of this questionnaire reflected that 83% of the participants had suffered from discrimination and violence due to their intersex identity. The findings of this study document some of the health disparities among intersex people in Puerto Rico.
