Hace poco m\u00e1s de un siglo, la idea de que las mujeres pudieran acceder al voto era considerada desde innecesaria hasta peligrosamente radical por gran parte de la sociedad. As\u00ed, este hecho fue, durante muchos a\u00f1os vinculado a ideolog\u00edas que atentaban contra las formas establecidas para la correcta organizaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica y social de los pueblos. Sin embargo, y gracias al trabajo incansable de grupos de mujeres progresistas, el derecho a voto pas\u00f3 de ser un cambio inadmisible para convertirse en un derecho incuestionable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Este suceso de la historia reciente de la humanidad permite evidenciar c\u00f3mo las sociedades pueden dejar atr\u00e1s formas de pensar y de actuar cuando son capaces de asumir que las mismas afectan el bienestar y los derechos de las personas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Estos procesos suelen ser cambios lentos dado que, aunque luego puedan convertirse en grandes hitos en la historia de la humanidad, se han forjado por peque\u00f1os pasos, por avances y retrocesos, y no est\u00e1n exentos de contradicciones. No obstante, cuando estos procesos atienden a causas justas, las diferencias quedan en segundo plano, y prima el buen criterio de aunar esfuerzos y voces en pos de un bien com\u00fan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En la misma l\u00ednea, desde el siglo pasado surgi\u00f3 la creciente necesidad de revisar el uso del lenguaje, espec\u00edficamente en su posibilidad de vehiculizar sesgos de g\u00e9nero que, por el mismo uso, se hab\u00edan instalado en el decir cotidiano. Sin embargo, no resulta aceptable fundamentar nuestras acciones en la mera tradici\u00f3n, y mucho menos si \u00e9sta se cimienta en la invisibilizaci\u00f3n de sectores de la poblaci\u00f3n, y por tanto de sus derechos. El lenguaje inclusivo de g\u00e9nero resulta una valiosa herramienta para reconocer y validar la diversidad de identidades y experiencias de g\u00e9nero que existen en nuestra sociedad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afortunadamente, desde hace tiempo la psicolog\u00eda ha realizado una reevaluaci\u00f3n de las teor\u00edas y pr\u00e1cticas psicol\u00f3gicas existentes, reconociendo c\u00f3mo ciertos enfoques pueden reflejar sesgos culturales o de g\u00e9nero. De esta forma, han ido surgiendo nuevas perspectivas que integran la diversidad cultural y de g\u00e9nero en la comprensi\u00f3n de la mente y el comportamiento humano, enriqueciendo as\u00ed el panorama te\u00f3rico de la psicolog\u00eda contempor\u00e1nea. En ese sentido, al utilizar un lenguaje que reconoce la presencia y la contribuci\u00f3n de todas las personas, estamos promoviendo un entorno m\u00e1s equitativo y respetuoso tanto en el \u00e1mbito acad\u00e9mico, de investigaci\u00f3n, o de la pr\u00e1ctica. Es importante tener presente que la utilizaci\u00f3n de lenguaje no discriminatorio implica la reflexi\u00f3n acerca de su sentido, y no una mera formalidad. Tambi\u00e9n es importante advertir que estos cambios pueden generar resistencias ya que muchas veces desaf\u00edan normas y estructuras arraigadas en nuestra sociedad. Sin embargo, como profesionales de lapsicolog\u00eda debemos recordar nuestro compromiso inclaudicable con los derechos humanos y el respeto a las personas y las comunidades, y atendiendo a los cambiantes contextos de la sociedad. Invitamos a integrantes de nuestra Sociedad a reflexionar acerca de la importancia de adoptar y promover el uso del lenguaje inclusivo de g\u00e9nero en nuestras interacciones profesionales y acad\u00e9micas. Al hacerlo, no solo estamos avanzando hacia una pr\u00e1ctica m\u00e1s \u00e9tica y sensible, sino que tambi\u00e9n estamos contribuyendo a la construcci\u00f3n de un mundo m\u00e1s justo e inclusivo para todas las personas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Importancia del uso de un lenguaje inclusivo de g\u00e9nero: una reflexi\u00f3n desde la \u00e9tica<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As\u00ed, este hecho estuvo, durante muchos a\u00f1os, ligado a ideolog\u00edas que amenazaban las formas establecidas de adecuada organizaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica y social de los pueblos. Sin embargo, gracias al trabajo incansable de grupos de mujeres progresistas, el derecho al voto pas\u00f3 de ser un cambio inaceptable a convertirse en un derecho incuestionable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event in recent human history shows how societies can leave behind ways of thinking and acting when they are able to accept that these ways affect the well-being and rights of people. These processes tend to be slow changes, since, although they may later become great milestones in the history of humanity, they have been forged by small steps, by advances and setbacks, and are not free of contradictions. However, when these processes respond to just causes, differences are put in the background, and the good judgment of joining forces and voices in pursuit of a common good prevails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along the same lines, since the last century there has been a growing need to review the use of language, specifically in its possibility of conveying gender biases that, due to its use, have become embedded in everyday speech. However, it is not acceptable to base our actions on mere tradition, and even less so if this is based on the invisibility of sectors of the population, and therefore of their rights. Gender-inclusive language is a valuable tool for recognizing and validating the diversity of gender identities and experiences that exist in our society. Fortunately, psychology has long been re evaluating existing psychological theories and practices, recognizing how certain approaches may reflect cultural or gender biases. In this way, new perspectives have emerged that integrate cultural and gender diversity in the understanding of the mind and human behavior, thus enriching the theoretical landscape of contemporary psychology. In this sense, by using a language that recognizes the presence and contribution of all people, we are promoting a more equitable and respectful environment in the academic, research, and practice fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is important to keep in mind that the use of non discriminatory language implies reflection on its meaning, and not a mere formality. It is also important to note that these changes can generate resistance since they often challenge norms and structures rooted in our society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, as psychology professionals we must remember our unwavering commitment to human rights and respect for people and communities, and to take into account the changing contexts of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We invite members of our Society to reflect on the importance of adopting and promoting the use of gender-inclusive language in our professional and academic interactions. In doing so, we are not only moving towards a more ethical and sensitive practice, but we are also contributing to the construction of a more just and inclusive world for all people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
